I have taken zopiclone as needed for over 20 years. Careful with this drug. I took it a few times a week for 10 years and then every night for 4 months. It started to not work anymore and I started tapering over weeks before stopping. It was the worst 3 months of my life with nasty rebound insomnia, wicked anxiety, and weird physical symptoms. You must respect this drug with no more than occasional use or it will take control of you!

I've been using it intermittently for several years. I generally do this for a couple of nights at most and then stop. While it works well for me that night and I get at least 8 hours of sleep, I find that by midday the next day, I’m feeling very fatigued. Also, after even two days of use, I find I have difficulty getting to sleep without it on the third night. It’s great when my tinnitus gets loud, but I’m beginning to question the value if I’m fatigued and stressed after stopping.

Whenever my sleep pattern is hindered or I genuinely can't get to sleep, I take one. Half an hour to 45 minutes, it starts to kick in. It’s a short-term-use drug, which is annoying because when things hit the fan, I just want to sleep through it, but it does the job for the nights I really need it.
